Ask ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Stars Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter & Anne Hathaway a Question

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Tim Burton’s trippy depiction of Lewis Carroll’s beloved tale ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (releasing March 5) is sure to captivate audiences with its dazzling imagery and astonishing cast. Just make sure not to expect a remake; it’s more a sequel of sorts.

Set several years after Alice’s first trip down the rabbit hole, the film follows her adventure back to the enchanting fantasy world she once knew. Once there, she reunites with familiar friends, all having maintained their peculiar nature, and must face the wrath of her nemesis, the Red Queen.

Taking on the title role of Alice is porcelain-faced Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, previously of HBO’s critically-acclaimed series ‘In Treatment.’ Among the cast joining the budding star are Burton’s long-time partner Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Johnny Depp as an appropriately eerie Mad Hatter and Anne Hathaway as the eccentric White Queen.

On Saturday, Feb. 20, ‘Alice’ stars Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter will be stopping by our studio for an Unscripted interview using your questions. Ask them how long it took to transform into their bizarre characters. Or maybe you’re wondering what it’s like for Helena to work so closely with partner Tim Burton. You can ask anything you want, just make sure you submit your question in the comments section below before Friday, Feb. 19 and that you include your name and location. Come back here on Monday, March 1 to see if your question made the cut!

Anne Hathaway to Be Saluted by Harvard

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Harvard is sweet on The Devil Wears Prada star Anne Hathaway.

The Ivy League university will bestow its Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year award on Hathaway at a parade and ceremony Jan. 28, organizers have announced.

The actresss, 27, was named to the honor by Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals – the country’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe – for her “contribution to entertainment.”

Hathaway, whose other films include Brokeback Mountain, Becoming Jane and Rachel Getting Married, was chosen because of the variety of her roles on screen and on the stage, a spokesman for the group told the The Harvard Crimson student newspaper.

“That theater aspect really hit home for us, for the Pudding, and we’re so excited for her to come,” he said.

The group’s man of the year recipient has yet to be revealed.

Last year, honorees Renée Zellweger and James Franco received golden pudding pots – to mark a tradition that began in 1795, when Harvard members of the club pledged to bring “a pot of hasty pudding” to each meeting.
